I'm slightly ashamed to say this but this is actually the first ever movie I have seen with Marilyn Monroe in it. Of course I've seen the photos and know about her, but I have never seen Marilyn herself on screen. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but I have to say she is captivating. She has one of those qualities where you can't take your eyes off her, and when she's not on screen, your wandering where she is. It's safe to say that this quality detracted my attention from her actual acting, but it made me wander if this character is just an exaggerated persona of her real self? This scene here has been re-worked a few times in the modern production scheme; once in Moulin Rouge where Nicole Kidman sings and adapted version of the son 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend' and again Madonna uses the scene in her music video 'Material Girls'. It's interesting how adaptions of icon films are so common today.
