Film Exploration
So I was having a browse on the internet to see what kind of independent and other short films there were, and came across this mesmerising film by Sam Taylor-Wood entitled 'Still Life'. I have to admit the film starts to hurt your eyes after a while, and it is the same shot for about 3 minutes, but it's amazing! Basically it's bowl of fruit that's being filmed as it grows mouldy, and you can literally see the mould growing before your eyes in a matter of three minutes! It's amazing the work and time that must have gone in to this film production. I also found another film in a similar style by Sam Taylor-Wood, however decided not to post it, as it's slightly grotesque. Imagine this same scenario but with a dead rabbit, little harder to watch the whole three minutes! Basically the artist is talking about distortion and the relentlessness of time, the finiteness of life and, above all, the interdependence between life and death.
