Sabrina

Today's film viewing was of Audrey Hepburn in 'Sabrina'. I think this film is the epitome of a Hollywood transformation with a fusion of European chic. Audrey is so captivating on film, the camera literally eats her up. She has a timeless beauty that I think is exemplified in all of her films. She represents a kind of child-like innocence in 'Sabrina' which is contrasted to her more mature and re-defined character after her time in France .
The thing that I don't quite understand is why the Baron that Sabrina meets in France gives her what seems to be an endless supply of clothes, and what is it that Sabrina has done for him to give her all these clothes?
This transformation is so drastic and so sudden, it reveals a more extreme transformation of character through clothes on film.

This is the scene where Sabrina is writing a letter to her father from Paris. It shows the point which I think is the border between her old working class self, and her later transformed self where she wears Givenchy.

This makes me think of the more modern Hollywood transformation. One of the most obvious character transformations through clothes is that of Andy in 'The Devil Wears Prada'. She, like Sabrina has a quick and dramatic transformative development, which exemplifies her desire for change and adaption into her new job and the world of fashion.

These are a few scenes showing her varying transformative clothing.
